General Rule:

“Drink before you are thirsty, eat before you are hungry, take rest before you are cold and take rest before you are tired.”

1. Consult your doctor first and advise him or her before you travel. He or she might prescribe medicine according to your personal medical history.

2. Drink two to three liters of water a day (non carbonated) starting on day before travel.

3. Be sure to rest sufficiently, making sure that you have had a full nights rest.

4. Do not drink alcohol before travel and avoid it for the first 48 hours of your trip.  Alcohol is a depressant and it can lower your respiratory rate and can cause dehydration.

5. Avoid caffeinated products, like energy drinks and soda.

6. Eat a healthy diet, rich in carbohydrates (pasta, bread and potato based foods) and fruits before and after travel.

7. In the case that you feel fatigue during travel, avoid physical exercise (such as walks.)
