José Leonardo Rincón, Jesuit Priest

&  President of ASCOFADE.

 

Jose Leonardo Rincón Contreras is a Jesuit priest, philosopher, theologian and educator of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota.

 

With more than 30 years of experience as an educator he has occupied the position of teacher in several schools in Colombia, specifically in Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Pasto and Medellín as well as professor at the Javeriana University in Bogotá. He has also been the principal of the San Francisco Javier Colleges in Pasto and San Ignacio de Loyola, in Medellín.

 

In his multiple positions, he counts Resident Directorate, as President of CONACED – Pasto, National Vice-President of CONACED; President of the Association of Jesuit Colleges of Colombia, ACODESI and of the Latin American Federation of Jesuit Colleges, FLACSI.

 

President of the National Bureau of Private Education, Consultant to the Ministers of Education of Ibero-America for the implementation of OEI Goals 2021, Secretary General of the Inter-American Confederation of Catholic Education, CIEC and CONACED National President. He has also been Advisor to the Department of Education of the Latin American Episcopal Council CELAM, and Secretary of the Education Commission of the Latin American Confederation of Religious, CLAR. Other positions include University Dean in the Javeriana University of Cali and Coordinator of the Network of University Welfare of the Colombian Southwest.

 

He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Education of Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and President of the Colombian Association of Faculties of Education, ASCOFADE.

 

Although he has received about fifty awards, the one received on December 9th, 2009, from the President of the Republic: the Simón Bolívar Award, Grand Master Order, Life and Work Award, granted by the Ministry of National Education, is the most significant, since it is the highest distinction given to a Colombian educator.
